FAQ

How can I clean up the stains that formed on the work surface when using the CIANOKOL cyanoacrylate glue (superglue)? ↓

Soak the hardened adhesive stain with hot water and detergent or heat it with hot air

(hairdryer). When the glue gets soft, remove it mechanically. Persistent stains and glue on less sensitive surfaces can be softened using MITOSOL S50 or acetone.

What glue should I use to glue the sole back on shoes? ↓

We recommend MITOPUR R2 polyurethane contact adhesive, which forms a tough and waterproof joint.

We would like to lay classic oak parquet on cement screed that is a few months old. However, the humidity in the screed is still too high, amounting to 3.5%. Which adhesive or gluing procedure do you recommend? ↓

You can choose between two different gluing systems:

  • A triple coating of cement screed with PARKETOLIT PR 50 primer or a double coating with PARKETOLIT PR51 primer and the use of the two-component adhesives PARKETOLIT 1549, PARKETOLIT 1550 or PARKETOLIT 1555.
  • The use of the 1k STP adhesive PARKETOLIT E60, which allows parquet to be laid on screed with up to 4% humidity without pre-coating the screed.

2k polyurethane adhesive was used for gluing the varnished multilayer parquet. There are some glue stains left on the parquet surface that cannot be removed. How do you clean glue stains that have been hardening for a few days? ↓

Cleaning adhesive residue from the parquet surface is most effective when the adhesive is not yet hardened; we recommend cleaning with the MITOSOL S50 diluent. Stubborn stains of hardened glue are very difficult to clean. Stains can be removed by covering them with cotton wool, soaked in MITOSOL S50 thinner, and protecting them with adhesive tape to prevent the solvent from evaporating. When the glue has softened after a few hours or overnight, the stains can be removed mechanically. Before cleaning, we recommend testing the resistance of the varnished parquet surface.

An inflatable PVC pool has a hole in it. What glue can we use to fix it? ↓

We recommend MITOPUR R2 polyurethane contact adhesive, which provides waterproof and temperature-resistant joints. Smaller holes are filled with a drop of glue, and larger damaged parts are glued as a contact joint using a spare piece of soft PVC, but you can also use PVC from used gloves, pillows, balls…

Which glue is best for gluing posters to withstand all weather conditions? ↓

We recommend the use of the MEKOL 1330 dispersion adhesive.

After a few months, the MEKOL dispersion adhesive looks inhomogeneous, separates and does not turn into a smooth liquid even after mixing. I was able to use it before… What happened to the glue? ↓

The adhesive has been exposed to low temperatures. Most likely it has frozen and lost its properties. Such adhesive should no longer be used.

Which gun is suitable for applying TERMOKOL STICK 16 hot melt glue in sticks? ↓

You can use any 12 mm diameter gun available on the market to melt and apply the glue.

I used 2k polyurethane glue MITOPUR A + B for gluing. It’s been several days but the glue is still soft, unhardened. What mistake did I make and will the glue ever harden at all? ↓

If you did not mix the entire amount of glue and did not weigh the components, but dosed them by volume, there is a significant chance that you did not mix the glue in the prescribed weight ratio. Glue, mixed in such a way, with too much or too little hardener will not harden over time. We recommend re-sealing the materials.

The adhesive hardening speed is also affected by the gluing conditions. Low temperatures greatly extend the hardening time of the adhesive; we do not recommend gluing below 15° C.

Metal letters fell off the stone tombstone. What glue can I use to glue them back? ↓

Before gluing, old glue residue must be removed mechanically and with solvents. You can glue the letters on using the two-component epoxy adhesive EPOKOL MIX5 or the one-component hybrid adhesive MITOMONT HP40. The adhesives give a transparent and climate-resistant joint.

The adhesive joint on my cycling gloves, between the rubberized and Velcro fastening tape, has loosened. Which adhesive is suitable for gluing such materials, providing elasticity and flexibility during use? ↓

We recommend the use of the contact polyurethane adhesive MITOPUR R2. Apply the adhesive to both materials, wait a few minutes for the solvent to evaporate, assemble both parts and squeeze vigorously several times with your fingers.

What glue can I use to patch up a tear on a neoprene suit to keep the damage from spreading further? ↓

If you add MITOPUR B7 hardener to MITOPUR R2, in addition to an elastic and tough joint, you get a joint with excellent water and temperature resistance. The tear can be glued or the damaged part covered with a piece of neoprene. In both cases, use contact bonding, i.e. apply the adhesive to both materials, wait a few minutes for the solvent to evaporate, assemble both parts and press together firmly with your fingers several times.

When replacing the upholstery fabric on the seat of a chair made of raw beech plywood, I would like to glue 2 cm thick PU foam to it. Which adhesive from your sales program do you recommend? ↓

Polyurethane foam can be glued to a wooden base using the one-component contact polyurethane adhesive MITOPUR R2.

What glue can I use to glue a cracked flower vase to withstand the occasional wash in a dishwasher? ↓

A vase made of ceramic, porcelain or glass can be glued with the fast-setting two-component epoxy adhesive EPOKOL MIX5. The adhesive forms a transparent, waterproof, high temperature and detergent resistant joint.

How can I permanently glue the wooden handles of garden tools (shovel, rake, pickaxe…) that often come off? ↓

Wooden handles can be glued to metal or wooden tools using the 1k polyurethane adhesives MITOPUR E2O or MITOPUR E45.
